Lisa Ellen (Ray) Ebeling, 56, of Somerton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at her home. Lisa was born on July 14, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio to James William “Bill” and Gwendolyn “Carol” (Boyd) Ray of Bethesda, Ohio.

Lisa was a wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many.

After graduating from Union Local High School in 1979 she continued her education at Ohio University, graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English and Special Education from Muskingum College. 

Lisa taught in the inner city school system of Los Angeles, California and substituted for Barnesville Schools. She worked many jobs including for The Limited corporate offices in Columbus Ohio, and as a cook for Olney School in Barnesville, Ohio. Lisa volunteered her time and services to many organizations over the years including the Barnesville Cheer Moms and several years as secretary for the Epworth Park Cottage Owners Association in Bethesda, Ohio. Enjoying time at her cottage in Bethesda was something very dear to her. Lisa was a foster mother to several girls over the years whom she considered her very own. She loved her kitties dearly, scrapbooking and crafts, crocheting, knitting and doing puzzles. Lisa was very musically inclined and loved to sing and play the piano as well as play the flute. She was an avid reader who lived to learn new things every day. 

Lisa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Hurlbert William and Mary Pauline (Stewart) Boyd and her paternal grandfather, James Bedillion Ray.

In addition to her parents, Bill and Carol Ray and paternal grandmother, Thelma Luella Ray all of Bethesda, Ohio, Lisa is survived by her husband of 22 years, Michael P. Ebeling; children, Paul Ebeling of the home and Lauren Ebeling of Portage, Indiana; stepdaughter, Katie (Stan) Lucas of Zanesville, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Matthew and McKenzie Lucas of Zanesville, Ohio; siblings, Keith Ray of Bethesda, Ohio and Marsha (Tony) Massing of Cartersville, Georgia; nephew Dustin Ray, niece, Liesl Ray and nephew, Dennis Ray of Bethesda, Ohio; niece, Dr. Brittany (Tim) Johnson of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; nephew, John (Micahlene) Williams of Belmont, Ohio; nephews, Peter and Todd Williams of Cartersville, Georgia; step-niece, Katie Massing and step-nephew, Keaton Massing of Charlotte, North Carolina; a great nephew, Evan James Williams of Belmont, Ohio; and her dearest best friend, Lorna (Larry) Leek of Barnesville, Ohio. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 11 AM until the time of the memorial service at 1 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
