I was very sorry to hear of Gene's passing. He was a terrific guy and one of the best. We grew up in Bethesda very close to each other and had some very good times. I have a lot of memories of Gene, but the two that always come to mind are these. Once when I was over at his house, he took down into his basement, put an iron poker in the furnace getting it red hot then putting it up against a four by four wood post burning a hole right thru it. AMAZING! We must have been in the first or second grade.The other was when he was downtown Bethesda with his pony and cart. Somehow the pony got spooked and ran right thru the big plate glass window at Bill Bolon's IGA. That was something else. Even though I hadn't seen him much since high school graduation, I often thought of him and the good times we had. I love the picture you have displayed of him.

Yesterday The Gill family and friends lost a great man. The town of BARNESVILLE lost a great citizen. I remember it like yesterday Gilly was my first baseball coach. I send prayers to the family.

Tina and family: I'm so sorry to hear about Gilly. He was a special man, and my kids loved him so much for what he did with them when it came to the bass club kid's tournaments. They looked forward to it every year, and Chris loved going to the fishing tournaments with his dad and helping during weigh-in. I always heard a story that Gilly did this or that when they came home. He will be missed by many...{{{HUGS}}} to you all during this difficult time. Finally, he's at rest and no more pain...
