Viola Mae Stephen, 93, of Quaker City, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville surrounded by her family. She was born on October 3, 1928, in Calais, Ohio on the family farm where she lived her whole life, to the late Thomas V. and Mabel (Goodhart) Uppole.
Viola was a 1946 graduate of Batesville High School and attended the Palestine Church of Christ. She was a lifetime member of the Barnesville VFW and a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Woodsfield. Viola enjoyed quilting, embroidery work, farming and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She and Linza loved square dancing, they even went the day they got married.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linza R. Stephen on December 1, 2009; a daughter, Sandra "Sandy" Mae Stephen on July 26, 2016; two brothers, Johnny (Thelma) Uppole and Edward (Martha) Uppole; two sisters, Emma (Jim) Wheeler and Florence Uppole.
Viola is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (Ralph) Adkins of Calais and Sheila Lasko of Calais; grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Seeley and Trent (Jalena) Lasko; several nieces and nephews; and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 1-4pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:00am with Preacher John Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Guernsey Memory Gardens in Cambridge.
