Thomas J. Burkhart, 95, of Zanesville, formerly of Barnesville, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. Tom was born on November 22, 1926 in Barnesville to the late George Clemance and Marjorie (Mahoney) Burkhart.
Tom is a 1944 graduate of Barnesville High School and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Barnesville. Tom is a member of the BPOE 1699. For many years, he worked for Damsel's Ice Cream until they closed and then retired from ODOT. He loved to bowl, square dancing, playing cards and bingo.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Velma (Dyer) Burkhart on November 27, 1975; second wife, Donna Jean (Definbaugh) Burkhart; and siblings: Robert Lee Burkhart, Jackie Lee Burkhart, Mary Burkhart Bishop, William Jenings Burkhart, Joseph A. Burkhart, Charles Frederick Burkhart and Sarah Burkhart Milhoan.
Tom is survived by his children: Ronda (Steve) Hall of Oak Island, NC, Beth (Garry) Stephen of Barnesville, Mindy (Keith) Broomhall of Barnesville, Lori (Larry) Clouse of Barnesville and Tim (Alicia) Burkhart of Heath, OH; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-children: John Carpenter, Lynne Carpenter Nelson and Susan Carpenter McGarvey and families; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from noon until the time of the service at 2pm with Pastor Ed Eberhart officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Military service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:45am by the Belmont County Veterans Association. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio.
