Theresa J (Vago) Lemasters

Theresa J. Lemasters died Friday, July 14, 2023 at Emerald Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation.

She was a graduate of Bellaire High School and of West Liberty University, where she received her B.A. degree, and of the University of Pittsburgh, where she received her M. Ed. degree.  She continued graduate work at Ohio State University and Miami University.

Mrs. Lemasters was a retired business education teacher from Barnesville High School and had taught at Belmont College and Ohio University Eastern.  For many years she also taught in the Adult Basic Education and Literacy programs.  She enjoyed her careers and often said she would do it all over again.  She was proud of her students, and her greatest delight was seeing them succeed.  Her mission in life was to help others to become the best that they can be.

Mrs. Lemasters was a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church, life-time trustee of the Belmont County Historical Society, the Belmont County Retired Teachers Association, and life-time trustee emeritus of the Belmont County Animal Rescue League.  As a proud alumna of West Liberty University, she was a member of the Nathan Shotwell Society, the John P. McCullough Society, and the President's Circle.  She was a member of Weyer Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Mrs. Lemasters, along with her husband, cared deeply for the welfare of animals; and they provided a forever home for neglected and homeless cats and dogs for many years.

Mrs. Lemasters was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Lena DeMichele Vago; and her loving husband of 65 years, Howard G. Lemasters; and her faithful feline companions, Honey and Angel.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 5-7pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  Eastern Star services will be held on Tuesday at 7pm.  The service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11am at Barnesville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Van Fisher and Rev. Tom Detling officiating.  Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in  Bethesda, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville, Hospice of Guernsey, Inc., or the Humane Society of the the United States.
