Ron G Wharton

Ron G. Wharton, 71, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on August 5,1946 in Barnesville to the late Willis T. and Margaret M. (Lucas) Wharton.

Ron was a 1964 graduate of Barnesville High School and a 1969 of David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee. He retired in 2000 after teaching math and science for 31 years at Barnesville Middle School, but he never stopped teaching. His grandchildren can attest to many science lessons learned from their beloved Papaw. Ron has served on the Barnesville Library Board for over 30 years, including the past 10 years as president. He enjoyed traveling to the beach with his loving wife, fishing with his grandchildren, and attending countless sporting events that his grandchildren played in. He was active in his construction business right up to the past year. There are few people in the area that did not have work done by Ron, or know someone that did.

Ron is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherrie Wharton, whom he married on December 14, 1968; three sons, Shawn (Chris) Wharton of Rushville, Ohio, Chad (Kasey) Wharton of Barnesville, and Ryan (Megan) Wharton of Franklin, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Jena, Luke, Ray, and Rebecca Wharton, Abigail and Emma Wharton, Kody, Nate, and Justin Blanton, Madelyn and Jase Wharton; two brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Wharton of Barnesville and Stephen Wharton of Barnesville; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 3-8 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Visitation will be held again on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with Pastor Ed Eberhart officiating at the Barnesville First Christian Church, 219 West Church Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.
