Rita Huntsman Obituary

Rita Frances (Johnson) Huntsman, 92, of Barnesville passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home in the loving care of her granddaughter, Amy Huntsman Jackson following a brief illness.  Rita was born on June 7, 1928 in Barnesville to the late Miles and Esther (Higginbotham) Johnson.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Barnesville, a graduate of the Barnesville Class of 1946 and a retired seamstress of Jonathan Logan, Belmont Manufacturing and Monroe Manufacturing Plant.  She loved her family more than anything in this world and loved watching them participate in all sporting events and programs.  She was an avid reader, loved completing crossword puzzles and sewing for her family.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Delbert E. Huntsman; three children:  Dennis Keith Huntsman, Keith "Red Dog" Huntsman and Brenda Rae Frey; infant granddaughter, Jennifer Frey; three sisters: Juanita (Winkie) Epley, Marlene Hanlon and infant, Beverly Johnson; brother, Charles "Buck" Johnson; and step-son-in-law, Robert Gibson.

Rita is survived by her son, Kevin Huntsman of Barnesville; daughter, Kendra (Huntsman) Powell of Barnesville; step-daughter, Sandra Gibson of Barnesville; grandchildren: Amy (Scott) Jackson, Denise (Huntsman) Stephens, Jeff Powell, Dennis (Melissa) Huntsman, Julie (Frey) Prekup, Ryan (Dana Atwood) Powell, Heather (Huntsman) Campbell, Mistie (Aaron) Huff, Brock Huntsman, Brandi (Rob Schumacher) Huntsman, Clay (Danielle) Huntsman and Rachel (Adam) Marmie; two step-grandsons: Robert and Richard Gibson; loving sister, Sue Altizer of Cameron, WV; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Carla Huntsman of Barnesville; son-in-law, Norman Frey of Wintersville; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required at a graveside service on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 1pm at Crestview Cemetery with Pastor Ed Eberhart officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
