Porter D. Slagle, 80, of Quaker City, Ohio passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his home. He was born on November 27, 1942 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Robert K. Slagle and ViErma Burnheimre.
Porter was a graduate of Johnstown High School with high honors. He enlisted in the Army Security Agency serving the CIA in Chitose, Japan. After the Army, he was employed by IBM, Owego, NY where he developed many Avionics Systems for various military tactical aircraft and Porter received IBM's highest award, "Outstanding Contributions". He later moved to Raleigh, NC where he also worked for IBM Retail Systems Divisions, where he became a planner and project manager. Porter was an active member of the American Legion. Some of his hobbies include photography, diving, underwater photography, traveling, building model airplanes, and inventing various things.
In addition to his parents, Porter was preceded in death by brother, Dean Slagle; and sisters, Carla Wilson and Judy Slagle.
Porter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Slagle; son, David E. (Karen) Slagle of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; and brother, Vaughn Slagle of Florida.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 2:00pm until the time of the military service at 4:00pm Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
