Nova Garnet (Carpenter) Stephen

Nova Garnet Stephen, 97, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 23, 1924 in Mount Ephraim, Ohio to the late Jacob and Alta Carpenter

She attended Calais School. Nova spent her years as a housewife, raising her three sons, and she loved her gardening and canning. She was a wonderful cook and passed down many cherished recipes and cooking skills to her grandchildren. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who was her most precious joy.

In addition to her parents, Nova was preceded in death by her husband, Girdon Stephen in 1993; her siblings: Alberta (William) Gallagher, Edmund (Marcella) Carpenter, Marvin  Carpenter, Norman (Yvonne) Carpenter, Billy (Norma Jean) Carpenter, and Randall (Martha) Carpenter; grandson, Charles "Chuck" Stephen; and daughter-in-law, Laura Stephen.  

Nova is survived by her three sons: Charles G. Stephen, Terry A. (Carolyn) Stephen and Ronnie W. (Kathy) Stephen; grandchildren: Connie (Dale) Huntsman, Mike Stephen, Diana (Kevin) Summer, Tacy (Kenny) Keiger, Hannah (Brent) Betts, Chelsey (Ty) Jackson; great-grandchildren: Johnathan Huntsman, Olivia and Grace Stephen, Cole Stephen, Clay Grear and Lucy Summers, Addyson and Kason Keiger, Ella, Hadley and Kainen Betts, Cash and Coy Jackson; sister-in-law, Carolyn; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 11am until the time of service at 1pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  Burial will follow at Boston Cemetery in Boston, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made in Nova's name to Hospice of Guernsey.
