Nathan Kirk Obituary

Nathan Randall Kirk, 68, of Pataskala, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at his home. He was born on August 6, 1952, in Salem, Ohio to the late Edward and Dorothy (Holloway) Kirk.

Nate was a 1970 graduate of Olney Friends School and a 1977 graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors of Science in Forestry. He is a lifetime member of Ohio Yearly Meeting and attended Pathway Church (Assemblies of God) in Gahanna. He was retired in 2011 from Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry after 33 years. He worked for Heartland Conference and Retreat Center in Marengo, Ohio for the last nine years.

Nate is a musician; playing guitar and bass since age 12, being a part of several bands and the worship team at church. He played in a band called Whistler's Mother while at Olney Friends School. He tried a variety of styles including bluegrass, flat picking, and rock 'n roll, but his favorite was playing at church. His love for music included making several of his own guitars.

He was also an avid tennis player and enjoyed coaching his girls in volleyball. He could beat anyone at table tennis. In 1971, Nate and his cousin, Jim Kirk took a bicycle trip from Ohio to Southern California along the coast to Oregon and back to Ohio. He fought many forest fires across the country, which he enjoyed immensely. Nate was the hardest working, most selfless man there was. He played hard and worked hard. His love for his family was superseded only by his dedication to his savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Kirk Ferbrache.

Nathan is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anna (Emmons) Kirk whom he married on June 17, 1989; and four daughters, Kayla (Matthew) Roberson of Gahanna and their son, Owen, Alissa (Joshua) Harris of Groveport, Sara (Christopher) Sladoje of Westerville, and Jenna (Micah) Sauder of Pataskala and their daughter, Jane.
