Nancy Grear Obituary

Nancy Jean (Hanlon) Grear, 84, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on March 11, 1936, to the late Harry and Bertha (Montgomery) Hanlon in Barnesville, Ohio. 

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Hanlon; grandson-in-law, Timothy Hayslett; and great-grandson, Colby Hannahs. 

She is survived by her husband Donald B. Grear; and brother James Hanlon.

Nancy was a devout member of the East Main Church of Christ. She was a lifelong Barnesville Shamrock fan and went to countless sporting events. She attended Barnesville High School, where she went on to work and touch the lives of numerous Barnesville students serving as a cafeteria cook for over 30 years.

Nancy was married to her husband Donald for 68 years. They were married September 6, 1952. Their marriage was an example of love, loyalty, and friendship that resulted in a large, tight-knit family. Nancy was the proud matriarch of the Grear family which includes 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. Her children include Jeanie (Steve) Gallagher, Jay (Carla) Grear, Jim (Paula) Grear, Jodi (Kent) Gallagher, and Janie (Richard) Pryor. Nancy's grandchildren are Jennifer (Jeff) Wise, Theresa Gallagher, Dyan (Brian) Hannahs, Ryan (Ashly) Grear, Shawna (Dave) Bratlie, Keith (Innessa) Ropchock, Anthony (Arci) Grear, Brian (Alitza) Grear, Sybil Carpenter, Kori Hayslett, Karri (Steve) Kovalick, Kaiti (Chris) Panepucci, Kati (Colin) Anderson, Malorie (Michael) Kubat, Chelsea (Shane) Grimes, and Morgan (Devin) Stephen. Nancy's cherished great-grandchildren are Ethan, Corbin, Brody, Jayna (Bruce) Sefert, Kaelan, Kalie, Kylee, Kaitlynn, Kiera, Mackenzie (Lukas) Amstutz, Drew, Alexis, Leia, Aizen, Ivan, Ella, Emmy, Gracy, Gideon, Ben, Jack, Sam, Gabriel, Sarah, Alec, Maia, Jude, Jordy, Bowen, Zoey, Linden, and Iris.

Nancy's kindness will be forever remembered by her family, friends, and the entire Barnesville Community.

Honoring the family's wishes, private services will be held. Care is entrused to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
