Monte Ray Harris, 70, of Barnesville passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his home. Monte was born in Barnesville on April 17, 1950 to Robert and Jeanne (Gibbons) Harris.
Monte was a member of the First Christian Church and a 1968 graduate of Barnesville High School. Monte worked as a foreman and heavy equipment operator for 28 years for R&F Coal at the Tipple. After they closed, he worked for Marietta Coal, Oxford Coal and then retired from Westmoreland Coal. Monte played on the First National Bank men's softball league, a bowling league and was a member of the BPOE 1699. Monte enjoyed car races, rock and roll, the Browns and the Buckeyes. Monte loved being a Pap, he loved to attend all of their activities. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Monte is preceded in death by his first wife, Vicky Pfeffer Harris; and a brother, Jay Alan Harris.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Nancy (Poludniak) Harris; daughter, Angie (Robert) Burkhart; son, Steven (Amber) Harris; grandchildren: Todd Burkhart and Kyser and Ella Harris; step-children: Jessica (Randy) Abbott, Alvin Francis, III, and Joshua Francis; step-grandchildren: Zach and Cameron Abbott and Mariah, AJ, Cole and Jett Francis; sister-in-law, Ginny Harris; niece, Amy Harris; nephew, Mark (Lakshmi Kerr) Harris; close cousin, Lanny (Carol) Butler; and many other beloved cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2pm at First Christian Church in Barnesville with Pastor Ed Eberhart officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
