Mary Lou Michelli, 83, of Barnesville, OH, passed away Monday March 15, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 9, 1937 at Martins Ferry Hospital and was the only child of Custer Nelson Carter and Edna Marchbank Carter, who proceeded her in death along with her Grandson, Connor Merritt, two stepsons, Tom Michelli, Jr. and Michael Michelli and a stepdaughter, Tina Michelli Miller.
Mary Lou married her husband Tom June 5, 1971, blending two families into one that they referred to as the "Brady Bunch plus two". She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Lori (Mike) Burkhart, of Barnesville and Judy (Mark) Nagele of Georgia, son Dale (Jeri) Smith of Newbury, OH, stepdaughter Vickie (Mark) Beetham of Cadiz, OH, stepson Rodger (Marianne) Michelli of Monroe, NC, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mary Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville. She held numerous jobs throughout the years to help support the family, working at Community Bank, Bank One, Watt Car and Wheel, finally retiring from Barnesville Hospital.
Mary Lou was an avid baker and loved to cook. Around Thanksgiving each year, she began baking cookies by the dozens for family holiday gatherings and to share with friends. Those in the community, lucky enough to get a dozen or two, referred to her as the "cookie lady". While her dozens of many different kinds of cookies were delicious, to her family, she was known for her homemade egg noodles. Each Thanksgiving and Christmas she would spend hours making enough noodles to give to the married members of the "plus two" bunch, and for family dinners at her and Tom's home. Every holiday season, her adult kids, grandkids and great grandkids always looked forward to "Grandma's noodles". WE LOVE YOU BACK Grandma!
Mary Lou was her husband Tom's greatest asset. She was always there to help and support him, no matter what life threw at them. If you saw Tom, she was not far, if not right by his side. She will surely be missed and forever loved!
