Marjorie C. "Jerry" Dennin, 103, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville. She was born on October 5, 1918 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Charles Walter and Mabel E. (Wilson) Wilkins.
Jerry was a member of the Barnesville First Presbyterian Church and a 1936 graduate of Barnesville High School. She was a graduate of Mt. Union College and Catholic University in Washington, D.C. where she earned a degree in Library Science. She served with the Red Cross in India and China during WWII. After the war, she worked in NYC as a librarian before she retired as Head of Learning Resources at the Northern Virginia Community College. Jerry traveled extensively throughout her life and passed the love of travel on to her family. Jerry was a member of the Barnesville Area Education Foundation where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dennin; sisters, Mildred Wilkins, Rebecca Wilkins and Jean W. (Charles) Smith; and nephew, Patrick Smith and his wife, Patricia.
Marjorie is survived by her niece, Rebecca (Bradley) Hammond of Ontario, Canada; great-niece, Kathryn Hammond; great-nephews: Tim (Courtney) Smith, John Hammond, and Andrew (Michelle) Hammond; great-great-nephews: Patrick and Benjamin Smith; and great-great-niece, Katelyn Smith.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 1pm until the time of the service at 3pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's name to the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library or the Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville, Ohio.
