Marjorie Harp Plumly was born May 18th 1930 to Frank and Esther Harp and passed on Monday, January 11, 2021, in North Carolina while in the loving care of her daughter Ann.
During her life Marj was known by many names and had many roles: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, teacher and realtor. Marj relished life and enjoyed its little pleasures. A cup of coffee with a friend, watching a high school sporting event or the conversation with her grandchildren or great grandchildren were her treasured moments. Marj especially enjoyed music and dance. Her eyes sparkled at listening to her sister, Marcia sing or watching her granddaughter, Ashleigh dance. She was a lifelong Barnesville, Ohio resident and cherished the town and its residents. Growing up at Harp’s restaurant placed her in the epi-center of everything Barnesville and its people, a childhood she often said every child would have enjoyed. Her friendships were enduring and once a friend of Marjorie’s you were a friend for life. Throughout her 90 plus years she remained in contact with her many friends and acquaintances and told stories as if the events had just happened yesterday. She was surprised if you didn’t know the people involved in the story because people were her life.
With the help of her many friends over the past several years, she was able to remain in Barnesville and live independently at home, a fact for which she was extremely grateful.
Marjorie was preceded in death this past year by Max Plumly, her husband of almost 70 years.
Marj has three children Mark (deceased), Dan (Anita) of Wooster, Ohio, Ann (Marshall) Brackett of Wake Forest, North Carolina. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom (Barbara) of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, Dick (Sharon) of Fort Myers, Florida and sister, Marcia of Indio, California; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kathryn and Cameron Plumly and Ashleigh Brackett; and six great grandchildren.
In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, face makes and social distancing will be required at a funeral service on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10am at the Barnesville First United Methodist Church, 123 West Church Street, Barnesville, Ohio 43713.
