Louise Hattina (Shepherd) Gregor, 103, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at WVU Medicine - Barnesville Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1920, in Bethesda, Ohio, the daughter of the late John N. and Carrie Emma (Moore) Shepherd.
She was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. A charter member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Epworth Post 90 and Oakleigh Garden Club. She was proud of the amount of people that she taught to swim in the Epworth Lake. She was a 1939 graduate of Bethesda High School where she was captain and the best player of the basketball team (and she would be the first to tell you). Born the year that women were given the right to vote, she always had a strong voice whether it was to drink more milk, stop smoking, or eat more vegetables. Louise always defended her children and grandchildren, even when they were wrong. Once, she got in a fight with a mother over Phil and the woman's son. She was always a strong force to deal with.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold James Gregor; a son, James Harold Gregor; son-in-law, Jack Kramer; her brothers, Vernon (Helen), Ray (Maxine), Allen (Joan), and Harold (Pam) Shepherd; her sisters, Dorotha (Russell) Wilson and Kathryn (Jerry) Corkins; and good friend and cousin, Betty Lee.
Louise was a loving mother to her children, Anita Kramer of Hartville, Ohio, Philip (Pam) Gregor of Warren, Ohio, Kriss (Valerie) Gregor of Bethesda; daughter-in-law, Mary Gregor; nine grandchildren, Carrie Tharp, J.F. Kramer, Stephanie Milligan, Meredith Thompson, Tony Gregor, Adam Gregor, Lacey Barnes, Hayley DeVienzio, and Brandi Milburn; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm with Rev. Tom Detling officiating at Bethesda Methodist Church, 233 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bethesda, Ohio. Louise's care has been entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in remembrance of Louise's deep commitment to the Bethesda Methodist Church or the Bethesda Fire Department.
