JoAnn Cheffy, 88, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Astoria Place of Barnesville. She was born on September 6, 1934, in Saint Clairsville to the late Paul Scott and Norma (Ashworth) Owen.
JoAnn was a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church, Barnesville Mother's Club, and the Monkey Pod Twig. JoAnn earned a certificate from Famous Artists for painting. She was a buyer for LS Good and Company and later got involved in collecting and selling antiques.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Cheffy in 2001; a daughter, Melissa Doan on 2014; her maternal grandparents who helped to raise her, Minnie and William Ashworth; and step-father, Alfred H. Owen.
JoAnn is survived by her daughters Dr. Becky (Dr. Dan) Hannahs of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Melinda Bennett of Hilliard; grandchildren, Olivia (Sean) Donovan, TJ (Natalie) Doan, Anthony Hannahs, Kelsey Doan, Andrew (Mikayla) Doan, Allie (Kyle) Wojtasek, Ian Bennett, Jordan (Allison Kestner) Lemke, and Remy Bennett; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm with Rev. Van Fisher officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.
The family would like to thank the staff at Astoria Place for the care and love that she was shown while she was a resident there and the added support and care from Amedysis Hospice.
