Janet L. Cowgill, 89, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Barnesville Hospital. She was born in Barnesville on January 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Alvin I. and Marie D. (Johnston) Louhoff.
Janet had been employed at United Dairy in Barnesville, Barnesville Surgery Group with Dr. Phillips, Dr. Childs, and Dr. Reeder, and secretary of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, where she had served as organist for several years, a member of the United Methodist Women and had been secretary of the St. Clairsville District Executive Committee of the United Methodist Women for four years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on April 5, 2007, Charles Raymond Cowgill whom she married on June 29, 1968; and beloved dog, Max.
Janet is survived by her brother-in-law, Richard (Barbara) Cowgill of Huntsville, Alabama; sister-in-law, Irene Cowgill of Canton, Ohio; cousins, Betsy Hartley, Jay Hartley, Chet Hartley, and Renee Taylor; special friend, Becky Thomas of Barnesville; beloved dog, Gemma; and cats, Midnight, Angel, and Callie.
In following with the COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a viewing on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, from 1 pm until 2 pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio with Pastor Jean Cooper officiating.
