Jane Elizabeth Hall, 70, of Barnesville passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at her home. Jane was born on July 15, 1949 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Harold O. and Lucille M. (Peters) Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard "Lefty" Hall.
Jane is survived by her brother, David "Pete" (Frances) Hall of Livonia, NY; sister-in-law, Rita Hall of Barnesville; niece and nephews: Rusty (Laura) Hall of Chicago, Rachael Weis of Powell, OH, John (Stacy) Hall of Grand Haven,MI and Christine (Joshua) Duthie of Syracuse, NY; great-niece and nephews: Ashlyn, Breckan, Hannah, Zoe, Vanessa, Lily, Carson and Keegan.
Jane was a 1967 graduate of Barnesville High School. She graduated from the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in 1970 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University in 2005.
Jane lived a life of service that spanned decades. She proudly served her country as a flight nurse with the WV Air National Guard US Air Force for over 25 years, and served in two overseas conflicts: Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1997. She was a dedicated employee of Barnesville Hospital for over 40 years. During that time, she devoted her talent to a variety of positions and retired in 2018 as the Senior Director of Quality and Risk Management and Medical Staff Services. Jane was known as a giver to her community, and retirement simply meant she had more time to volunteer for a variety of causes and organizations she felt passionate about. She was an officer in the Seneca Sportsman Club and enjoyed spending time at her cabin on the lake. Jane was President of the Lady Elks and a docent for the Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and held several leadership positions. Jane was happiest when she was serving others, and in recent years found great pleasure teaching sign language to hearing impaired children in the Amish community.
Jane devoted her life to the health and well-being of others. Given the health risks surrounding the Coronavirus Pandemic, gathering as a community to pay final respects in a closed setting is being discouraged. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Saturday, March 21, 2020 with an 11am military service provided by Belmont County Veteran's Association and a blessing service given by Rev. Bob Willits and Fr. Dave Cornett on the front lawn of the Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A funeral procession for Jane will begin at 11:30am from the funeral home making its way to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Graysville, Ohio where a graveside service will be held at 1pm.
The public is encouraged to attend a memorial service and celebration of life this Summer, once it is deemed safe to gather in large numbers.
