James Robert "Bob" Thatcher, 91, of Barnesville passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. Bob was born on February 16, 1930 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Maurice Evans and Mary Elizabeth (Denny) Thatcher.
Bob was a retired machinist from Hanna Coal Company (Consol). He was a life member of the Wharton's Sportsman Club and a member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, car shows, working on his Model A Ford and riding around in his golf cart. He will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen Thatcher; and sister, Garnett Huntsman.
Bob is survived by his children: Joy (Thomas) Bober of Flushing, Julie Barnett of Leesburg, Florida, Jay Thatcher of Derby, Kansas, Jeff (Janice) Thatcher of Barnesville and Tina (Charles Spragg) Thatcher of East Liverpool, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; step-daughter: Donna Messenger of Quaker City; brother: Richard (Martha) Thatcher of Canton, Ohio; and sister: Rose Lou Johnson of Barnesville; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special neighbors and dear friends: Jeff Crosier, Jim Crosier and Danny and Jacquie Campbell and family.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday at the convenience of the family. Burial will occur in Crestview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
