Helen I. Ward, 89, of Barnesville passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Walton Retirement Home. Helen was born on July 2, 1928 in Belmont County to the late John and Thelma (Hanson) Major.
Helen was a member of the Barnesville Main Street United Methodist Church and a graduate of Flushing High School. She enjoyed farming with her husband, gardening and quilting. She spent many years traveling around the United States with Kamm Bus Tours.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Ward on June 9, 2006; and brother, Charles Major.
Helen is survived by two sons, David (Marsha) Ward of Barnesville and Daryl (Susan) Ward of Barnesville; daughter, Diane (Michael) Sanner of Gnadenhutten; six grandchildren: Allen (Amanda) Dieterich-Ward, Michelle (Jason) Gallagher, Anne (Michael) Carpenter, Amy Ward Cline, Andrew Burkhead and Jesse Burkhead; great-grandchildren: Brady Gallagher, Dylan Gallagher, Camden Carpenter, Evan Carpenter and Savana Gurr; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. The service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10am with Rev. Ted Buehl officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.
