Hazel M. Saffell, 90, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Emerald Point Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on May 18, 1930 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Charles and Margie (Gray) Powell.
Hazel was a member of the Boston Church of Christ. She was a member of the Barnesville Eagles and VFW, where she was secretary for the ladies auxillary for 32 years. Hazel loved quilting and gardening. She loved her cat Pepper.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband: Elsworth Carpenter; second husband: John Saffell; sister: Betty J. Carpenter; daughter: Janet Gaidos; son: Charles Donald "Butch" Carpenter; and grandson: Christopher Carpenter.
Hazel is survived by her sister: Doris Bryan; two daughters: Linda (Michael) Fowler of Bethesda, Ohio and Karen Saffell of Ashboro, North Carolina; two sons: Thomas (Sharon) Saffell of Virginia and John David Saffell of Levenworth, Kansas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Covid-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required for visitation on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 2-6pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home 319 N. Chestnut Street Barnesville, Ohio 43713. Services will be Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00am with Derrick Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
