Gordon L. Carpenter, 83, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late Hillard and Zelma Carpenter.
Gordon was a Navy veteran. He was a retired coal miner for North American Coal. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved playing music, guitar, mandolin, and banjo. He was part of the Roswell Band where he played the trumpet. He also enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by Lloyd Carpenter, Bill Carpenter, Johnny Otto Carpenter, Norman Carpenter, Virgil Carpenter, and Leonard Carpenter; half brother, Lawrence; half sisters, Marg and Mary; grandson-in-law, Bryan Jones; and several niece, nephews, and cousins.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Molly Carpenter; son, William (Suk) Carpenter; two grandchildren, Jennifer Jones and Jessica (Kory) Holmes; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Ellie, Jaxon, and Everly; brother, Kenny Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio with Pastor Van Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Batesville Cemetery with military honors given by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
