Gene Howell Plumly

Gene Howell Plumly, 97, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 6, 1926, in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Cecil E. and Helen (Howell) Plumly.

He was retired from the United States Postal Service. Gene was a member of the Somerton Church of Christ, a graduate of Somerton High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Swiss Ohio Campers. Gene was a veteran with the United States Army during World War II serving in Europe and primarily Germany.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Irene (Rogers) Plumly on October 13, 2011; daughter, Rebecca Roberts on July 28, 2022; and a brother, Evan Plumly.

Gene is survived by his son, Roger (Nancy "Jane") Plumly of Barnesville; daughter, Rena Shepherd of Westerville; and three grandchildren: Natasha (Tom Zani) Plumly, Sean Shepherd and Vanessa Plumly; and great-granddaughter, Katerina Faith Zani.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 10am until the time of the service at noon with Ev. Val Roxby officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Guernsey County Memory Gardens.
