Betty C Plumly

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Betty C. Plumly, 95, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at her home. She was born on November, 5, 1926 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Percy and Mary (Moore) Overman.

After graduating high school and attending Mary Washington College, she married and moved to Somerton, Ohio to be a wife, mother and farmer. Her hobbie were painting and cross stitching and she loved working the yard and flowers. Betty was a member of the Somerton United Methodist Church and the OES #206. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. Those who knew her will never forget her kind loving nature, although she was a quiet and private person. All those who knew and loved her will never forget her.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Derwin J. Plumly; brothers: Percy C. (Joan) Overman and Beverly (Patricia) Overman; and sisters, Dorothy (William) Pollard and June (Steve) Sokol.

Betty is survived by her son, Gregory D. (Kathy) Plumly of Somerton; two daughters, Peggy (Larry) Conway of Barnesville and MaryBeth (David) Ribeiro of Smithfield, Virginia; six grandchildren: Krista Murphy, Jason Plumly, Brandy Peterson, Derwin Conway, Bryan Williams and Derek Wood; 6 great-grandchildren: Hayliegh and Olivia Murphy, Maghara and Maliaka Peterson and Jaxon, Jaelynn, Jordyn and Rylin Plumly; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and friend of the family, Dave DerHammer.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 2:00pm with Pastor Dale Warrick officiating at Somerton Southern Cemetery. Betty's care has been enrtrused to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.

A special thanks to all the Hospice people who attended her. A very special thanks to her daughter who provided invaluable care for Betty.
