Belva  M. Tychonski, 94, of Barnesville, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Lula Russell Turner of Bethesda.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mansel, who worked 42 years for Damsel’s Ice Cream Company followed by several years with Riesbeck’s grocery; her brother Robert, a successful businessman, managed Bairs Furniture Stores in Barnesville, Cambridge and Newcomerstown; and a sister Wilma, who passed away at the tender age of eight from appendicitis.

She is survived by her son Reed, a well known local photographer.

She was a graduate of Bethesda High School and the Wheeling College of Commerce. Her work career included being a switch board operator for the Bell Telephone Company, followed by 25 years with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation where she served as office administrator for Belmont, Monroe, Noble and Guernsey counties. She later served as credit manager at Barnesville Hospital as well as managing the Ormet Credit Union in Barnesville Hospital. After retirement she served as a volunteer over the next nineteen years and amassed over 3,500 hours of volunteer service to the local hospital.
