Willis Carpenter, 80, of West Lafayette, Ohio passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at The Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. He was born on November 30, 1933 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Sherman and Gladys (Stephens) Carpenter.

Willis is a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He attended the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church.  Willis enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoe, taking square dance lessons and spending time with his family.

Willis is survived by his wife, Victoria R. Carpenter of West Lafayette; 2 sons: Glen Carpenter of Columbus and Steven Carpenter of Weeki Wachi, Florida; daughter, Rhonda Elder of Coshocton; 5 grandchildren: Justin Carpenter, Jenny (Jason) Olinger, Rebecca (Jeremy) Angel, Stephanie Carpenter and Hannah Carpenter; great-grandchildren: Alex and Annabel Peraza; and a sister, Garnet (Gerald) Tracy of Cambridge.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 5-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.  The service will be on Friday, April 11, 2014 at noon with Robert Kester officiating.  Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.  American Legion Belmont County Council will conduct military services at the funeral home at 11:45am.
