William Russell Ambrose, Jr., 74, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Saturday morning, July 2, 2011 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born November 25, 1936 in Morristown, Ohio to the late William Russell, Sr. and Edith Pearl (Hamilton) Ambrose. Mr. Ambrose served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. He was a Manager for manufacturing long wall mining equipment, was a member of the Thoburn United Methodist Church, Belmont Lodge #16 F&AM, and was a diehard NASCAR fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister - Dama Stubbs. Surviving are 3 daughters - Elizabeth Norden of Columbia, South Carolina, Amy (Jimmy) Baugh of St. Clairsville, and Mary Kay Ambrose of St. Clairsville; 2 grandchildren - Christopher (Allie) Baugh and Alison (Josh) Newell; sister - Jean Mahan of St. Clairsville, great-grandchild - Ryah Newell; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio with Rev. John Partridge officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter, 45244 National Road West, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
