(Mayberry) Cook
September 12, 1930 – December 16, 2022
Violet Cook, 92, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at her home. She was born on September 12, 1930 on the family farm in Somerton to the late Herman and Maggie (Jefferis) Mayberry.
Violet was a graduate of Somerton High School. Her greatest blessing was taking care of the home. She also worked as a secretary for her husband at Don Cook Trucking for many years. Preceding that she had worked for G.C. Murphy, Jonathan Logan, and Barnesville Lumber. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees over the years.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband Donald Cecil Cook; a son, Thomas A. Cook; and two sisters, Pauline Steed and Laura Wherley.
Violet is survived by her children, Michael (Debbie) Cook of Barnesville, Nancy (Terry) Smith of Barnesville, and David (Jill) Cook of Barnesville; daughter-in-law, Joyce Cook; grandchildren, Rachel (David Koch) Cook, Leah (Travis) Shirer, Candi (Adam) Eccleston, Nathan (Christy) Smith, Matthew (Marta) Cook, Mark Cook, Jordan (Lauren) Cook, and Allie Cook; and eight great grandchildren, Lena, Grant, Julia, Caroline, Luke, Gracie, Gavin, and Kavin; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Violets devoted caretakers, Betty Gabel, Delilah Weaver, Mary Carpenter, Karla Thomas, Cindy Messenger, and Roberta Duvall. A special thank you to Hospice of Guernsey, Nurse Jennifer McCammon and Aide Debbie Lawson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 5-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 10am until the time of the service at 11am with Rev. Tom Detling and Pastor Kris Bright officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Violet's name to Hospice of Guernsey, 9711 East Pike Street, Cambridge, Ohio 43725 or Team Consulting, P.O. Box 254, Bethesda, Ohio 43719 where her grandson, Mark, attends.
