Thomas R. Young, 75, of Barnesville (formerly of Canal Winchester, Ohio) passed away on August 19, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Thornville, Ohio to the late William and Mary Luease (Combs) Young.
Tom is a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church. He was retired as Operations Manager from Triad Transport in Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Young; sister, Gladys Taylor; four brothers: Ernest and John Goldsmith, and William and Owen Young.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia; daughter, April Hackler; stepdaughter, Lisa (Tom) Gallagher; daughter-in-law, Elisa Garrity; stepson, Stuart Grimes; four brothers, Dewey (Elaine) Goldsmith, Edward Young, Charles (Marcella) Young and David (Carol) Young; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11am at Barnesville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Ted Buehl officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. VFW Belmont County Honor Guard will conduct military services at Barnesville First United Methodist Church at 10:45am.
