Thelma Ellene (Smith) Johnson, 90, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Emerald Pointe Nursing & Rehab.

Thelma was born in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late Brady and Bessie (Holmes) Smith on February 28, 1934. After her mother's passing when she was an infant, she was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle Hazel and Russell Barr in addition to her father Brady.

Thelma graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Johnson on May 31, 1953 at the Woodsfield Church of Christ. She was a member of the East Main Church of Christ.

In addition to being a homemaker much of her life, Thelma was a librarian at the Woodsfield Public Library in her early adulthood, then worked at the Hutton Memorial Library in Barnesville from 1976 until her retirement in 1996.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in October 2013; her brothers, Brady Smith and David Barr; and great-grandson, Timothy Price.

Thelma is survived by her son, Brad Johnson of Alexandria, Ohio; two daughters, Jerilynn (Dan) Price of Mt. Gilead, Ohio and Nancy (Brad) Wilson of Barnesville; seven grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Johnson of Marion, Ohio, Kelly (Robert) Maschmeier of Carlisle, Ohio, Shane (Reneé) Price of Graytown, Ohio, Jon Price of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Wesley (Roxanne) Wilson of Thonotosassa, Florida, Clay (Tiffany) Wilson of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Van (Briana) Wilson of Chicago, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kaylee, Ambria (Timothy), Trevor, Anthony, Alexis, Henry, Nathan (Kirsten), Kyle, Amber, Annistyn, Thatcher, Sawyer, Riley, Warrick, Parker, and Zion; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 11am until the time of the service at 1 pm with Ev. Val Roxby officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.
