Robert Earl Thompson, 88, of Barnesville was carried home by the Angels of Heaven at 3:00pm on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Emerald Pointe Nursing Home. He was born on November 7, 1935, in Minerva, Ohio to the late Albert Grant and Dorothy (Haines) Thompson. Robert moved to Maryland in the late 1960's to kick off a new citizen band radio club called Alert. After that he started his own moving company and general contractor which he worked until his retirement from Winchester, Virginia. He then moved to Barnesville, Ohio to live with his daughter in June 22, 2022 until his passing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nirtha (Garcia) Thompson; sisters, Faye Marteney and Sue Wandle; and brother, William Thompson. Robert is survived by his children, Darrell L. (Lourdes/Maria) Thompson of Minerva, Ohio, Dale L. (Sonja) Thompson of St. George, South Carolina, Cindy L. (Cecil) Morrison of Barnesville, Cathy S. (Albert) Adams of Palm Bay, Florida; grandchildren, Monica Thompson, Albert (Christina) Thompson, Nitteya (Stephen) Canaday, Bianca (Tim) Peters, Trevin (Tyler) Thompson, Dorothy Morrison, Victoria Adams, Joseph Adams; grandson that Robert adopted, Dario Costa-Thompson; nine great-grandchildren, Mya, Sophia, Zoe, Domonic, Angelina, Levi, Parker, Theo, and Riley; and siblings, Patricia (Gene) Fry of Minerva, Richard (Betty) Thompson of New Philadelphia, Debbie (Greg) Wells of Malvern; two step-children, Maribel (Jennifer) Costa and Raul Costa; step-grandchild, Sierra. In honoring Roberts wishes, cremation will take place with private inurnment held at East Lawn Cemetery in Minerva, Ohio. Care is entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
