Robert M. Tallman, 82, of Barnesville died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Barnesville, Ohio. Robert was born on September 8, 1932 in Lloydsville, Ohio to the late Charles and Mary (Collins) Tallman.
Bob was a 1951 graduate of Barnesville High School. On October 14, 1952 he entered the US Air Force and was discharged on October 13, 1956 after achieving the rank of Airman 1st Class. Bob started his career with Ohio Bell in Dayton and Columbus and returned to Barnesville where he retired after 33 years as a central office inside repairman. He was a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church, BPOE 1699, American Legion Post 168 and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Bob's recreational passions were bowling, pool and music. He was a highly active member of the Elks Bowling League where he partcipated for 54 consecutive years. Often seen shooting pool at the Barnesville American Legion and Elks, he was known for soft pocket shots, "english" on the cue ball and second shot ball position. Bob was a self taught guitar player who loved to play his Gibson guitar. He would play "unplugged" many times during Christmas and other various parties.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Sally Ann Grier whom he was married to for 51 years; and a sister, Katherine Bonnell.
Robert is survived by three sons: Jay (Rhonda) Tallman of Grove City, John Tallman of Barnesville and Jeff Tallman of Barnesville; chosen daughter, Kari (James) Mullan of Queensbury, NY; and sister, Betty (Denver) Moore of Cadiz.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. The service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11am with Rev. Gene Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery. An Elks service will be held on Tuesday at 6:30pm. Military honors will be conducted by Guernsey County Veterans Council at Crestview Cemetery.
