Richard "Dick" Wayne Carpenter, 84, of Barnesville died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home.  He was born in Barnesville on January 8, 1932 to the late Bernard and Hazel (Bunting) Carpenter.

Dick is a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean War.  He retired from R&F Coal Company.  Dick loved working and riding horses, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and was an avid Barnesville Shamrock Football fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers: Gary and Jackie; two brothers: Robert and Donnie Carpenter; and a sister, Ruth Ann Allar.

Dick is survived by his wife Carol Carpenter; three daughters: Jody (Greg) Hunter, Jill (Chris) Carpenter and Sherri (Keith McMillan) Carpenter all of Barnesville; five grandchildren: Leslie (Matt) Daugherty, Hillary (Jason) Abrigg, Chad (Amanda) Hunter, Kyle Gibson and Fallyn Carpenter; seven great-grandchildren: Madyson, Braydon, Shayla, Josey, Lakyn, Jaydon and Landyn; brother, Kenneth Carpenter; two sisters: Jeanette (Bob) Hall and Sue Boulet.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  The service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 1pm with Pastor Joe Thornton officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  Military Honors will be held at the funeral home at 12:45 by the Belmont County Veteran's Council.
