Richard Gray Steele, 99, of Somerton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center.  Dick was born on December 30, 1922 in Jerusalem, Ohio to the late Harold and Olive (Gray) Steele.

Dick was a member of the Somerton Church of Christ and a 1940 graduate of Somerton High School. He was a United States Veteran of the Army Air Force who served in WWII. Dick was a funeral director and owner of Steele Funeral Home in Somerton.  He and Geneva owned and operated Gilbert's Menswear and the Sears Catalog Store.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva B. (Wells) Steele; son, Timothy G. Steele; and sister, Maxine (Steele) Shepherd Peddicord.

Dick is survived by his daughter, Susie (Tim) Powell of Barnesville; daughter-in-law, Joyce Steele of Barnesville; grandchildren: Matt (Penny) Powell of Barnesville, Michelle (Carmelo) Rodriguez of Virginia, Jeremy (Heather) Powell of Barnesville, Seth (Natalie) Steele of Pleasant City, Corey (Nikki) Powell of Barnesville, Aaron (Cassie) Steele of Barnesville and Jessica (C.J.) Burghy of Barnesville; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces: Judy (Dave) Johnson and Carolyn (George) Reed; and nephews: Rick (Vicki) Shepherd, John (Diane) Wells, Dan (Patti) Wells and Dick (Patty) Wells.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 11:30am until the time of the service at 1pm with his family officiating at Somerton Church of Christ, 55276 Washington St., Somerton, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Somerton Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.

A special thanks to Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab and to Hospice of Guernsey for his care. Also to his caregivers that took special care of him while he was still at home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's name to St. Jude's or Somerton Cemetery Association.
