Nancy Wells, 68, of Barnesville, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Barnesville Hospital. She passed away in the presence of her husband, two sons, a grandson and her daughter-in-law.

Nancy Carol Mallernee was born Dec. 17, 1948, in Athens, Ohio, the daughter of Robert E. Mallernee and Pauline F. Pittis Mallernee. She was a 1966 graduate of Barnesville High School and attended what is now Ohio University Eastern. She was employed for more than 20 years as the office manager of Dr. Douglas Huff.

She married Richard Wells on January 14, 1968, at the First United Methodist Church in Barnesville. Their first son, Rich Wells, was born April 5, 1969, in Warner Robbins, Ga., and their second, Gabe Wells, was born Nov. 16, 1974, in Wheeling, W.Va.

Nancy Wells was a loyal and loving wife. She was a loving, caring, compassionate and encouraging mother and grandmother. Nancy was sharply intelligent and enjoyed writing journals, drawing, painting and word games. Nancy was an avid bird lover.  Nancy was a strong and opinionated woman. She had a fierce instinct to live.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, mother and sister, Barbara Mallernee Jones.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law Amy Campbell Wells, grandsons Ian and Mitchell Wells and sister Joan Samuels. Also surviving are her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from noon until the time of the service at 3pm with Pastor Rodney West officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
