Martin J. Schumacher, Sr., 97, of Barnesville passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 24, 1921 in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late William and Mary (Alig) Schumacher.

Martin was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville.  He was a member of the Barnesville Rotary Club and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.  Martin and his wife Dorothy, were avid farmers and gardeners and operated the Schumacher Family Pumpkin Patch. Martin was a co-founder and very active with the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival for many years.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Schumacher on May 21, 2012; son, Thomas H. Schumacher; and eight siblings.

Martin is survived by two sons: Martin J. (Terri) Schumacher of Barnesville and Ronald E. (Robin) Schumacher of Lancaster, South Carolina; two daughters: Mary Ann (Sonny) Miller of Columbus and Norma J. (Bud) Matko of St. Clairsville; 12 grandchildren: Michelle (Chris) Rangus, Malinda (Timothy) Moloney, Melanie Miller, Melissa (Dave) Bonvino, Ronna (John) Egan, Ryan (Nicole) Schumacher, Russell Schumacher, Thoue (Jeff) Bronowski, Justin (Cara) Matko, Matthew (Valerie) Schumacher, Timothy Schumacher and Britny Schumacher; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 3-8pm with a Vigil Service at 7:30pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10am at the Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville.  Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.
