Loretta Ann "Annie" LaVanchy, 68, of Barnesville died Friday, August 23, 2013 in Wheeling Hospital. She was born on July 31, 1945 in Barnesville to the late John Edward and Mary Catherine (McCort) McGee.
Loretta was a graduate of Barnesville High School in 1963. She worked at the United States Information Agency in Washington, D.C., and attended the 1964 World's Fair in New York City. She raised her two children in various locales in Indiana and Ohio with her former husband, James LaVanchy, before moving back to Barnesville. She loved spending time with her family and friends, including her close friend, Ruth Jefferis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hawthorne.
She is survived by her son, Eric LaVanchy of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Katy LaVanchy of Columbus; 5 brothers: John Isaac (Virginia) McGee, Robert (Violet) McGee, James (Bonnie) McGee, David (Carol) McGee and Bruce (Cindy) McGee; 2 sisters: Mary Kay (Butch) Ramsey and Laura (Jerry) Wittenbrook; 3 grandchildren: Christian, Koby and Kaylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 4-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. The service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11am. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery where she will be interned next to her parents.
