Lewis C. Messenger, 83, of Barnesville passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Barnesville Health Care Center. He was born on September 8, 1931 in Barnesville to the late Sherman and Bertha Mae (Ensley) Messenger.
Lewis is a Methodist by faith and an US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Lewis was a carpenter by trade and had also worked for the Barnesville Water Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marjorie; three brothers: Frank Messenger, Jack Messenger and Clarence Messenger; and great-granddaughter, Elle Messenger.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Mary (Renker) Messenger; eight children: Kathleen (Tom) Miller of Jerusalem, Charlene (Jim) Williams of Quaker City, Susan (Carl) Davis of Lewisville, Sandra (Warren) Moore of Sarahsville, Daniel (Kathy) Messenger of Barnesville, David Messenger of Barnesville, Dennis Messenger of Barnesville and Twila (Dave) Fisher of Barnesville; brother, Andrew Messenger of Quaker City; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 4-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. The service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11am. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemtery in Bethesda, Ohio.
