Larry B. Shipley, 73, of Hendrysburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at his home. He was born on September 18, 1946, in Zanesville, Ohio to Evaleen (Brooks) Shipley of Barnesville and the late Orville Shipley. Larry was a 1964 graduate of Barnesville High School. He served as a Navy Seabee with the United States Navy during Vietnam. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Valley Mining for 24 years and retired from Oxford Mining. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Melinda Lou (Yaus) Shipley whom he married January 11, 1969; three children, Shanon (John) Chase of Somerset, Kentucky, Hamilton Shipley of Barnesville, Jared Shipley of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas, Steven, and Alicia; two great-grandchildren, Blair and Whisper; and siblings, Joyce (Roger) Reynolds of Hendrysburg and Diane (Jeff) Allen of Cambridge. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, from 10am until the time of the memorial service at 11am with Ev. Val Roxby at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Ohio. Military honors will be given at the cemetery by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
