Julia Ann "Judy" Hanlon, 83, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at her home.  She was born February 8, 1932 in (East Richland) St. Clairsville, Ohio to the late Charles O. and Anna (Armour) Van Pelt.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Ruth (Van Pelt) Foreman, and former husband Charles C. Hanlon.

She is survived by her two children, C. Carver Hanlon and Lisa L. (Sam) Whitacre both of Barnesville.

Judy grew up in East Richland, Ohio, attended St. Clairsville School, and finished high school in Barnesville, graduating in 1952.   After graduation she worked for Ohio Bell in both Barnesville and Columbus, OH.  She was married in June 1956, and enjoyed four years of military life traveling alongside her husband; a member of the United States Air Force, after which  making a home in Barnesville for many years.  While raising her family; Judy was active in many civic and community organizations, and a member of the Barnesville First Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed golfing; a past member of Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville, Oh and served as an official scorer for the PGA at Firestone Country Club in Akron for several years.   In later years with an adventurous and brave spirit she traveled about living in Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Virginia, and then Columbus, Ohio where she retired from Qwest Communications.

Judy leaves behind several beloved nephews, nieces, family members, and treasured friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 1-3 and 5-7pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville.  The service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11:00am with Rev. Andy Woods officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Barnesville First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Guernsey.
