Joseph A. Sligar, 81, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Wheeling Hospital. Joe was born on August 11, 1943 in Stockton, California. Joe was a retired coal miner from Number 6 Mine in Powhatan. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids and loved riding his Harley. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and in-laws, Albert and Margaret McCort. Joe is survived by his wife, Sandy (McCort) Sligar; children, Carrie Harris, Beth (Rodney) Jones, Ron Conway, Dora Gordon, and Joey Sligar; grandchildren, Tasha (Chris) Norris, Anna (Nik) Sells, Nathan (Hannah Forester) Smitley, Dustin Kirk, Victoria Adams, Steven Adams, Robbie Shoemaker, Joey Sligar, Jazzy Sligar; special great-granddaughters, Aliyah and Claire; several other great-grandchildren; his special little buddy, Cole; and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life is being planned by the family from 4:30-6:30pm on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the Barnesville Library Annex 611 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Joe's care has been entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
