John Nelson Logan, 83, of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born at home, in Belmont County, on October 12, 1940, to the late John William and Mary (Powell) Logan.
A 1958 graduate of Barnesville High School, John married Rae Jean Warfield, on April 19, 1958. The two enjoyed 50 years of marriage together, prior to her passing in 2009. John was a devoted caregiver to his wife for many years. Always a hard worker, John held many jobs to support his family. He retired as a foreman, from North American Coal Mine #6, and also worked for the Barnesville Exempted Village School District. He was an avid Shamrock fan and supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
John is survived by his loving companion, Joyce Steele; sister, Jean Williams of Jerusalem; son, Kevin (Tina) Logan of Cranberry Township, PA; son, Al (Patti) Logan of Cambridge; son-in-law, Dave Watson of Barnesville; grandchildren, Matthew Logan, Sammi Logan, Nicholas (Destinee) Logan, Cameron Logan, Joshua (Amanda) Watson, and Melissa (Dave) Mazgaj; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Parker Watson, and Emma, Zach, Luke, and Joel Mazgaj; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lori Watson, and four sisters, Anna Albaugh, Lenora Benson, Maxine Winters, and Gladys Hager.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 3-7 p.m., at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A Christian service, officiated by Pastor Dale Warrick, will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at Crestview Cemetery.
