Jeffery A. Schanks, 54, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born on August 10, 1969 in Saint Louis Missouri to the late Lowell Glenn and Judith Ann (Thoenen) Schanks. Jeff was a 1987 graduate of Union Local High School. He obtained his associates degree in radiology at Jefferson Community College in 1989. He was a hard worker his whole life beginning at a young age when he took on side jobs to help his family. Jeff spent the majority of his employment as a Cat Scan Tech working for several employers and briefly worked for Century Mine. Jeff was an avid historian and an 18th century living history reenactor. He was an original member of Fort Henry Days Wheeling as well as Butler's Rangers. Known for embracing authentic living history, he would go as far as organizing camp trips using only 18th century gear. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow Dance Team, an honor organization within the Boy Scouts, as well as a member of the Canton Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. A medal winning M1 Garand competition shooter, Jeff was a passionate gun enthusiast and expert marksman. As a member of Anchor Baptist Church in Barnesville, Jeff embraced loving others and was known for always going out of his way to care for those around him. Jeff is survived by his children, Faith Ann Schanks, Joshua Baker, Emily Hupp, and Hannah Anderson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 4-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio 43713. The service will be held on July 3, 2024 at 11:00 am with Randy Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his daughter Faith, to help her further her education.
