Jay M. Shumaker, 83, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his home. He was born on June 29, 1927 in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to the late Howard and Helen (Doverspike) Shumaker. He was an Army veteran and was an Operating Engineer for Local 18. He was also employed by Quin Development. He was a Methodist by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife - Norma J. (Ball) Shumaker (11/3/2009); 4 brothers - Eugene, Clyde, Willard, and Donald Shumaker; and a sister - Janet Carlos. He is survived by 3 sons - Gregory Shumaker of Belmont, Scott (Wanda) Shumaker of Barnesville, and William (Kim) Shumaker of Barnesville; daughter - Pamela Shumaker of Belmont; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters - Paulette Heilman of East Brady, Pennsylvania, Marguerite Marsiglio of Jeanette, Pennsylvania, and Mary Jane Everett of Hollywood, Florida. Services will be held at the convenience of the family at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Hendrysburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 3C's Cancer Support Group.
