Jack L. Wells, 79, of Barnesville, Ohio died Saturday morning, January 7, 2012 at Emerald Pointe Nursing & Rehab Center in Barnesville. He was born on January 24, 1932 in Belmont County to the late Apollard "Pod" and Blanche (Finley) Wells. Mr. Wells was a United States Marine during the Korean War. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for R&F Coal Company. He was a member of the Nazarene Church, VFW Post 2792, American Legion Post 161, Freeport Masonic Lodge 415, and the Elks. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son - Gregory Allen; 4 brothers - Herbert, Earl, Don, and Denver Wells; and 4 sisters - Louvenna Wells, Juanita McGlumphy, Goldie Clark, and Marjorie M. Wells. Surviving are wife of 28 years - Norma Wells; daughters - Teresa (Joseph) Babka of Lansing, Ohio and Brenda (William) Miller of Barnesville; 2 step-daughters - Ada (Tim) Mears of New Philadelphia and Tina (Richard) Dessecker of New Philadelphia; 3 step-sons - Donald (Becky) Malterer of Bolivar, Ohio, Lennie Malterer of New Philadelphia, and Philip Malterer of Georgia; 2 brothers - Russell (Martha) Wells of Barnesville and Robert Wells of Barnesville; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11 AM with Pastor William Graham officiating. Military Service will be conducted by the VFW Belmont County Honor Guard. Mason Service will be conducted Tuesday at 5:30 by the Freeport Lodge 415. Burial will follow at Gibson's Chapel in Barnesville, Ohio.
