Jack H. Burcher, 90, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Emerald Pointe Nursing & Rehab in Barnesville. He was born on January 15, 1925 in Greeley, Colorado to the late Harry C. and LB (Havens) Burcher.
Jack served in the US Navy during World War II where he was a gunner's mate aboard the USS Lake DE 301 in the Pacific theater. For msot of his life, he was a self-employed carpenter working in the Cortez, Colorado, Quaker City and Barnesville areas. He was an active member of the Barnesville First Baptist Church along with his wife Patty. He and Patty enjoyed many visits to the Ohio Amish country. He enjoyed working on older cars, golfing, and an avid reader. He was a member of VFW in Quaker City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife - Lucille Burcher; brothers - Harvery, Earl, and Daniel Burcher; and sister - Anah Barnett.
Suriving are his wife - Patty (McGhee) Swallie Burcher; daughters - Virginia (Tom) Mills of Findley, Jackie (Bob) Smith of Kansas, Sandy (Gary) Shear of Kansas, and Jenneth (John) Shriver of Beallsville; grandchildren - Kenneth Shear, Lydia (Ian) Mairs, and Rachel Shear; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 steps-sons; 12 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and siblings - Bessie Thomas of Indiana, Becky Burcher of New Mexico, Margaret Likens of Barnesville, Paul Burcher of Colorado, Bob Burcher of Viriginia, and Harry Burcher of Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A private family service will be held with Pastor Rodney West and Joe Thornton officiating.
