Hollie William Detling, 82, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on August 24, 1930 in Somerton, Ohio to the late Hollie O. Detling and Mary Primovick Detling Amos.
Hollie was a graduate of Somerton High School and attended Coyne Electric School in Chicago, served in the United States Air Force, member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church, BPOE #1699, American Legion Post 168, and Barnesville Booster Club, and was a volunteer at Barnesville Hospital and Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Indians fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father - Harold Amos; and a brother - John Detling.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years - Helen L. (Lewis) Detling; daughters - Lou Ann (Patrick) Swallie of Barnesville and Marla Kent of Littleton, Colorado; son - William H. (Tracy) Detling of Montville, Ohio; grandchildren - Amber, Adam, and Arick Swallie, Evan and Ryan Kent, and Joshua, Paul, Joseph, Linnea, and Elizabeth Detling; sister - Jean (Roger) Davis; sister-in-law - Kathryn Detling; and step-brother - Lee Amos.
Gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 4-8 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where services will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 1 PM with Rev. Ted Buehl officiating. Military Service will be conducted prior to the service at the funeral home by American Legion Belmont County Council. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.
