H. Allen "Butch" "Hank" Wilcox, 82, of Somerton, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 10, 1944, in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Clarence Alvin and Flossie F. (Walkup) Wilcox.
Butch was a retired coal miner from Ohio Valley Coal Company's No. 6 Mine. Following his years in the coal industry, he went on to drive truck, which was his true passion. He also enjoyed farming and was never one to pass up an opportunity to share a good story. Known for being a wonderful storyteller, he had a special way of entertaining those around him. His stories made him a favorite among his grandchildren and his Amish neighbors, who always enjoyed visiting and listening to the tales he had to tell.
Butch was also a talented artist who enjoyed painting on pieces of slate and old saw blades, creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind works of art for many of his family members. These treasured pieces will serve as lasting reminders of his creativity, thoughtfulness, and the love he had for his family.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond (Helen) Edward Wilcox, Robert Clark Wilcox, John (Shirley) Donald Wilcox, James (Charlotte) A. Wilcox, Paul Marvin Wilcox, Sr, Dale Wilcox, and Kenneth Wilcox; and brother-in-law, Gene Milhoan.
Butch is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen L. (Hopton) Wilcox whom he married on July 9, 1966; two children, Mark A. Wilcox of Somerton and Kimberly (Biff) Call of Orwell, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Karissa, Clay, Christopher, Starsha, Kandea, Heather, Matt, and Joe; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Jody) Wilcox, Sandra Milhoan of Pataskala and Mary (Tony) Bussard of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wilcox, Norma Wilcox, and Glenda Wilcox; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 10am until 1pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at Somerton Cemetery with Rev. Dale Warrick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Butch's name to the Somerton Volunteer Fire Department, 55717 Washington St, Barnesville, OH 43713.
