Gary Dale Lucas, 81, of Barnesville, Ohio died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 10, 1943 in Belmont County to the late Dale and Thelma (McCort) Lucas.

Gary graduated from Barnesville High School in 1961 and was an All-Ohio All-Star in football. He was a member of the West Main Street Church of Christ and served as an elder there for many years. He was also known for preaching at several small local congregations. He was a retired lineman for South Central Power Company and was president of the National Pike Knife Club. Gary loved to go to sales and auctions, farming, and loved camping with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Myrna Rae Lucas and Charlotte Rose Leach.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Lucas; 2 sons - Rick (Sue) Lucas of Belmont and Gary (Beth) Lucas of Somerton; 2 daughters - Robin (Lee) Back of Barnesville and Paula Bender of Barnesville; brother, Bruce (Peggy) Lucas of Barnesville; sister, Dana (Bob) Detling of Barnesville; brother-in-law, Dale Leach of New Castle; grandchildren - Tera, Kelvin, Caleb, Josh, Cassie, Emily, Kendal, Addie and Lucas; and also great grandchildren - Hayden, Gunnar, Gamble, Gracie, Emmie, Liam and another great grandson due this month.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4-8pm and Friday, May 17, 2024 9:30-10:30am at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00am at the West Main Street Church of Christ, 235 West Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio with his son, Rick Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
